Welcome to Class 7.
We are a Primary Resourced Provision for pupils with Complex Learning Needs. What this means in practice is that we are a small class, with four pupils and two adults, providing a very high level of support. The curriculum is planned to meet the needs of each individual child, whatever their starting point, and we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to enjoy all the fantastic experiences that life at our school has to offer. Our classroom is in one of the new rooms upstairs, and we have the very best view of our school grounds from the window - you are welcome to visit us to share it.
Our focus each day is on the core skills of reading, writing and mathematics, but we always approach this creatively, bringing learning alive and fostering a nurturing, caring environment. Every pupil reads with an adult each day, and we value our strong links with parents and carers.
In English, our text is 'Floss' by Kim Lewis. We will be studying, and writing our own, repetitive poems about farm animals. In our narrative, we will be focusing on consolidating basic spelling, punctuation and grammar skills, whilst developing our descriptive writing. We will then be looking at persuasive writing and writing our own advert.
In Maths, we are going to be pushing ourselves hard in order to secure our understanding of place value: reading, writing, ordering and comparing numbers; recognising the place value of each digit in a 2-digit number; securing our use of + and – and using these skills to understand and solve problems. We will also be working hard to learn our 2, 5 and 10 x tables.
Each week, Class 7 will receive either Maths or English homework. This will be given out on a Wednesday and will be due in the following Monday. We will give out spellings and times tables to learn on a Monday and will be tested on Friday. In Class 7, we ask that children read a minimum of four times each week. Please write this in their diaries, so that we can clearly see that they are reading at home.
We once again look forward to working with Mr Moss in the school allotment on a Tuesday. We really enjoy learning all about the variety of flowers, fruits and vegetables that grow at school.

As always, many thanks for your continued support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
