Class 7

Welcome to Class 7.

We are a Primary Resourced Provision for pupils with Complex Learning Needs.  What this means in practice is that we are a small class, with ten pupils and four adults, providing a very high level of support. The curriculum is planned to meet the needs of each individual child, whatever their starting point, and we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to enjoy all the fantastic experiences that life at our school has to offer. Our classroom is now in one of the new rooms upstairs, and we have the very best view of our school grounds from the window - you are welcome to visit us to share it.

Our focus each day is on the core skills of reading, writing and mathematics, but we always approach this creatively, bringing learning alive and fostering a nurturing, caring environment. Every pupil reads with an adult every day, and we value our strong links with parents and carers.

In English, our focus for the spring term will begin with poetry.  We will be learning and then rewriting some well-known traditional poems, and also studying 'Imagine' by our Patron of Reading, Pie Corbett.  Our narrative text is 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark', and this will lead to writing stories about learning to overcome our fears.  In non-fiction, we will be writing persuasive texts, looking at conserving the natural habitats of Barn Owls.

In Maths, we will continue embedding our understanding of the four operations - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, revisiting each one every few weeks. We will be learning about time, reading analogue and digital clocks, and looking at angles and measurement.

We are once again looking forward to working with Mr Moss on the allotment, and to spending time learning using our fantastic outdoor environment.
