Welcome to Class 7.
We are a Primary Resourced Provision for pupils with Complex Learning Needs. What this means in practice is that we are a small class, with four pupils and two adults, providing a very high level of support. The curriculum is planned to meet the needs of each individual child, whatever their starting point, and we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to enjoy all the fantastic experiences that life at our school has to offer.
Our focus each day is on the core skills of reading, writing and mathematics, but we always approach this creatively, bringing learning alive and fostering a nurturing, caring environment. Every pupil reads with an adult every day, and we value our strong links with parents and carers.
In English, our focus for the autumn term is the text 'The Journey Home' by Frann Preston-Gannon. We will be looking at, and writing our own, poetry, fiction and non-fiction based on this text. We will be researching the impact of humans on the environment and are planning a trip to Chester Zoo to look at how they support conservation and learn more about the animals from our story.
In Maths, we will continue embedding our understanding of place value, and addition and subtraction. We will be consolidating our current knowledge and learning new strategies to give us a secure understanding of these areas with numbers up to 100, using lots of concrete resources to support us with this.
We are once again looking forward to working with Mr Moss on the allotment, and to spending time learning using our fantastic outdoor environment.
