Welcome to Year 2!

In Year 2 all our learning is delivered in a stimulating, creative and thematic approach. We have lots to learn but intend to have a lot of fun!

splish splash splosh

This term our theme is ‘Splish, Splash, Splosh’. We will we focusing on lots of exciting learning around the theme of coastlines, rivers and water.

In English we are basing our work around the text 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch'. Throughout our exploration of this text we will look at some different vocabulary as well as inference, grammar and narrative skills. We will also be doing some work around seaside themed poetry and identifying the different features. We will be using our Talk for Writing approach when introducing these texts.

Reading Challenge!

This year we will be following a new reading challenge. The children can travel through their class reading challenge adventure and collect gold stars along the way. Each gold star is worth a raffle ticket. There will be a raffle draw every half term and the children have a chance to win a brand new book to keep. We hope you will join us in developing a love of reading in your child by reading regularly at home. If you have any questions regarding our new reading challenge, please do not hesitate to ask Miss Coates or Miss Cooke.

Other areas of the Curriculum:
