At Barnton Community Nursery and Primary School we are passionate about finding opportunities for all our children to excel. Our curriculum aims to inspire each child to achieve their very best, and believe in their hopes and dreams!
‘The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you’
To do this we provide our children with a rich, broad and balanced curriculum. A curriculum that creates wonder, excitement and magical experiences, which promotes the love of learning, and creates independence and a thirst for knowledge. Our curriculum fully meets the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum for England and the requirement to teach Religious Education
Through the curriculum pupils learn the basic skills necessary to succeed in each subject, but we also use the curriculum to help them develop their personal and social skills. British Values are weaved through our curriculum, ensuring our children have a clear understanding of the values that underpin our British constitution.
Where children have special educational needs or a disability we make provision for them so that they too can flourish.
We encourage children to be keen, enthusiastic, independent learners and we give them lots of opportunities to develop their interpersonal skills by working and co-operating with others. Through the curriculum we build their self-esteem and self-confidence, motivating and inspiring them to achieve the very best in all areas of school life.
Each year in school builds on the previous year. We assess progress and achievement, and we regularly report to parents about how well their children are doing.
‘Education is kindling a flame’
